Chchch Changes

So I think it's pretty well documented that I suck at sticking to blogging with any regularity. Part of the reason for that is that I didn't feel like there was much to update people on and part of that is that most of the people that I want to update on my life I either see or talk to on a regular basis. Well boys and girls, as the title of this post suggests that's all changing today.
Why is that changing you ask? This morning I am packing up the car complete with kitty and moving to Kansas.
But what about Steve? Are you leaving him behind? Well, yes, but only until later in the month when he is driving out to join me.
There were a lot of factors that went into this decision. California is a very expensive place to live and the taxes are very high. We'd come to realize that we would never be homeowners if we stayed out here and the quality of life hasn't been great for us. My Dad and I have had a great many conversations over the years regarding the difference between working to live and living to work. Steve's job had him working on average 70 hours per week including some off duty time, all for a job he couldn't stand. I was commuting 25 miles each way to work usually averaging 40 hours per week at a job that I was hired to work 30, including of after hours work. Then it was cemented for us, on October 31, 2013 I was laid off from my job, that's right, on Halloween. We had always managed to get by before, but now who knew. As some of you know my parents moved to Kansas about 4 years ago, we fell just love with it they did when visited last fall, and so seemed like a perfect meeting of circumstances.
So here I am driving off into the sunrise (can't be sunset I'm going east) in search of a new adventure. We are going to miss our friends dearly and there's really no getting around that. I'm really hoping some of you decide to come visit us, you're all more than welcome anytime. I'm going to post some update stuff as I drive through 6 states in 2 days like a crazy old cat lady with Tink by my side.

One More Time With Feeling

Ok, so after a failed all juice attempt earlier this year i was at my 2013 starting weight, hubby still has about 30 lbs he wants to lose and I have almost 100, so we started in again this week, we're on day 3 and I'm down 5.2, while I know a lot of this is water weight, it makes the first 3 day funk easier to bear.  I'm hoping to make it to Aug 1, since we have to go to my cousin's wedding on the 3rd and the last time I saw my family was at my wedding where I was at very close to my highest weight ever.  So I can use all the encouragement I can get, I've set up non-food rewards for every week I finish so that it's not tied to weight and just tied to sticking with it.  I am pledging to go as far as I can go. Like last time though I will be adding in some protein powder as I plan on looking into hot yoga next week.

Day 10

So here I am on day 10 and I have done pretty well.  Sunday evening I did have some beans and rice because I've been sick and that seemed to help and last night I had a chicken bowl from Flame Broiler.  All in all this cleanse is going pretty well and I've figured out that part of my problem was the lack of protein.  I've discovered that Garden of Life Raw Protein in the Vanilla Chai mixed with almond milk is my favorite.
It keeps me from feeling like I'm fading at the end of the day and makes my tummy not feel as empty.  So I'm going to continue on with this in addition to the juice for a while, and I may have some treats here and there, but this is for a long term thing not just a quick fix, so I'm good with that.  All in all this is more about making my relationship to food more normal.

Day 2 of Cleanse 2

So here we are at the end of day 2 and I'm feeling pretty tired today, I'm not sure why, but there it is.  I'm also feeling somewhat touchy, like there's something I'm missing and everyone else knows what it is and doesn't want to tell me.  I think maybe it's just because I'm so tired.  Anyhow, that's all the update for today.

Juice Cleanse #2

So we've decided to do another 60 day juice cleanse.  What brought us to this conclusion was that we've gained a lot of weight back from the first cleanse almost a year ago and Steve and I are both feeling really sluggish and gross.  I still have quite a bit of weight to lose and this seems to be the healthiest way I have found to do so.  When we're just juicing I can't fall back on processed foods with low calorie counts to get me through the day.  This is all whole foods all the time.  The things I'll be doing a little differently this time is that I'm going to add a teaspoon of oil into one juice a day to keep gallstones away.  My Mom had to have her gallbladder removed due to some major stones and I don't want to get anywhere close to that so I'm taking that precaution.  I'm also going to add in some almond milk and vegan protein powder for days that we go on longer hikes, which I'm hoping we do more of this time around.  As for exercise, we are on week 5 of the Couch to 5k running program and we're doing really well.  Steve is running with me this time and it's really pushing me much harder than I would do on my own.  He's majorly increased my time.  I'm going to try to post more this time with weight updates and emotional updates.  The last time we did this it was much more emotional and mental than I was prepared for, we'll see what this time brings.  So here we are at day 1 and I'm feeling really good about our ability to do this, we're determined!

What I wore Wednesday

Here's a new thing um going to try to implement, what I wore Wednesday.  So for today, we have a shirt by Merona, sweater from Old Navy, jeans from Old Navy and sites by Xhileration. You can also see the growth of the hawk, it's getting up there. I do have some completed projects to post, so keep an eye out for those.
